I am sure he was and now is free of pain and in the heavenly choir.

Yes indeed.. in the past few years Mike’s Melancholy Man lyrics seemed to come alive. Have you heard?

I'm a melancholy man

That's what I am

All the world surrounds me and my feet are on the ground

I'm a very lonely man

Doing what I can

All the world astounds me and I think I understand

That we're going to keep growing

Wait and see

When all the stars are falling down

Into the sea and on the ground

And angry voices carry on the wind

A beam of light will fill your head

And you'll remember what's been said

By all the good men this world's ever known

Another man is what you'll see

Who looks like you and looks like me

And yet, somehow he will not feel the same

His life caught up in misery

He doesn't think like you and me

'Cause he can't see what you and I can see

When all the stars are falling down

Into the sea and on the ground

And angry voices carry on the wind

A beam of light will fill your head

And you'll remember what's been said

By all the good men this world's ever known

Another man is what you'll see

Who looks like you and looks like me

And yet, somehow he will not feel the same

His life caught up in misery

He doesn't think like you and me

'Cause he can't see what you and I can see

I heard he’d been suffering with dementia for some time. Brilliant musician and a great visionary. They were my favorite band in the 60’s-70’s.

ah memories. I always loved the Moody Blues, from their Boulevard de La Madeleine through their Nights in White Satin, and then the solo albums from the 2 younger members... part of our youth has departed. Hopefully there is a place nearby in heaven where I can sit and listen

Beautiful music. My mum lived to 88 after smoking most of her life and taking literally tons of meds, so 79, or 82 is a bit soon to go.

Women usually outlive men. My mother lived to 89 on a very poor diet...no exercise and no sunshine. The mortality age of medical doctors is 72 years!!

I don't expect to live past 82.. I am amazing I am still alive.. One doesn't KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO AGE UNTIL ONE IS EXPERIENCING AGE. 'nuff said there. 82 sounds young and can be young.. but frankly,, I as I posted before I am NOT thrilled w/ the aging experience nor do I like the to be treated as a geriatric human being being. THE RULES HAVE CHANGED, my friend. and you know why. Corona and the turbo issues are not good. .but let's not change the subject. 88 seems to be a good age.. I am ready when the Lord calls my name (re: David Allen Coe) great song. best to you..and I hope you live that long. As for me. Any time. :) cheers.

Nights In White Satin - last year in high school - loved the band - they are taking everyone from us. Went to college with their music under my arm. Sickening.

First song I ever heard was Go Now in 1965 and I got to see them in 2001. What a concert! Stellar musicians one and all. They are a big part of the soundtrack of my life and the music is timeless.

He was a good friend of a good friend of mine. I always hoped to get a chance to talk with him but he left too soon.

It's funny, I remember show tunes and songs, in the 1940s & 1950s...not bands. I memorized over a thousand songs at one time. I loved music!

My mother who just passed at 101 yrs was a joy to be around. Just like you, she memorized and could sing countless songs mainly from 1920s through the 1940s. Beautiful voice and ability to harmonize. People used to get together around the piano for fun. So glad you share your history. It helps give balance to an unbalanced world!!!

I had heard on MIke Huggin's Substack: my Deepest RIP to his family and the rest of the living members of the families of the Moody Blues. I saw them in person the last tour show in Southern VA. An awesome show and I have the Poetry book written by Now that you posted about Mike Pinder and I saw Mike's post: I didn't pay close attention but I have Graehm Edge's poetry book: and here is a blog that Moody Blues "aficianado" wrote: https://anchoredscraps.com/2020/04/written-works-graeme-edge/. Written by Graeme Edge apparently in 2012, around the time I went to the concert. As a long time fan, and writer of poetry and fiction, and QUALITY music, I always get a book if the author is there, and Gaeme Edge signed a stack of them and I bought one :) ! . I didn't but should known that the Moody Blues wrote most of their own lyrics. RIP to Mike Pinder and like you say: the MOODY BLUES are not just "BAND" their work was concert like quality and the lyrics of their works, and one my favorites is Whites in Night Satin. Good of you to post about it. Great Tribute. The musicians of the Moody Blues were geniuses with a talent who shared their deepest experiences with those who were wise enough to listen and I for one.. had the privilege of attending their last concert series. May the Lord Bless them all.. and as I always say about my many musician friends who passed they are now playing in the Celestial Orchestra! :) thank you Dee, have blessed day. I will find that book it is on this shelf. I am glad it is posted on that blog along w/ the lyrics of many songs by the Moody Blues. :) Isabell

One of my favorite bands, and, yes, Nights in White Satin one our favorites. Glad I got to see them in Sacratomatoe years ago.

Oh darn...another member of the renaissance period for rock music leaves us. One thing about the last remaining vestiges of rock n roll royalty exiting: 'cancelling culture' ensures no remembrance of what was truly great and original about that epic era.

you'd be surprised how many young people know of, and love, "our' 60s and 70's music.

Great musician. He outlived many great musicians and entertainers who all seem to be dying in their 50's and 60's or even much younger since this monstrous, demonical Covid "plandemic" that is not even close to being done with us yet!
